I started jogging yesterday…ouch! I don’t understand why it is sooooo hard…I grew up on a farm and tossed hay bales around like they were a sacks of groceries…we’d (my sister and I) trot to the farthest corner of the pasture to bring the cows home to milk them…I grew up with a father who never walks – always runs. I don’t think I walked from point A to point B until I was 25 cause that is how I was raised. For the longest time I thought everyone jogged from one place to the next. I guess I started really slowing down after the birth of my third child. He has always been so pokey. When we go for a walk my daughter is always a block ahead and my son is always a block behind. My middle son is doing circles around all of us…but you’re only as fast as the slowest person. So, I slowed down. That isn’t always a bad thing. We listen to the birds and talk about everything. (The youngest never stops talking – he has made up for the fact that our daughter doesn’t talk at all.) Then I got a car. Yup, I went for many years without one. I mean, we had one, but my husband drove it to work. I really didn’t care. The kids and I would scoff at all the drivers – asking each other what is wrong with their legs? Because we live in town we used our legs to get around. But once I had the car I slowly started relying on it to go anywhere. No more walking to the lake, library, or grocery store – we drove. That was such a mistake. My clothes slowly started to get tighter and tighter. So I decided to start jogging yesterday. I made it three blocks! Today I hope to make it three blocks and one foot…
