This is a sweet little watercolor painting I picked up in Oklahoma. It makes me so happy!!! I got it for $1.99 at a thrift store! On the back is a sticker that says “Marilyn’s Art”. Here is the before picture:
Here is what it looks like after painting the frame white:
Now…doesn’t the watercolor just POP, instead of being overshadowed by the dark frame? Doesn’t it look fresh and new again? Some of my friends Julie have been giving me a lot of grief over painting all these frames white…I still think I’m right! If you would like to see more “before” and “after” of other people’s projects check out the blog Better After. Tons of inspiration. Warning: Lots of painted wood (LOVE IT!).
Now, I have a special request. Carmen, Lisa and I are working on a top-secret project for Thrift Store Horror! We want your thrift store horror stories…did you ever buy a chair at a thrift store and find it full of fleas? Or did you ever buy a table at a thrift store and have the leg fall off??? Any wonky story you have regarding thrift stores would be great! I can’t wait to read your stories!!! Go to Thrift Store Horror and contact us via email or in the comments section!!

Your right - it does pop now!!
Your friends are dummies; the white is SO much better!
I must admit I'm all about leaving wood it's natural color, but this does look WAY better with the white frame. Good call :)
