A good start…

007

I’ve been collecting vintage sheets for about a year now. Whenever I’ve gone to a garage sale or a thrift store I’ve pounced on them…I’ll take anyone down who tries to get between me and a good vintage sheet. I battled with a few senior citizens for some of them – not one of my proudest moments…It is finally time to put them together to make a quilt. This isn’t the exact pattern I’ll be using – I found a couple more sheets after I took this picture – but you get the idea. I laid them on top of a blanket that we seem to use over and over again in the living room to get the size I want. I hope the quilt will be just a little bigger and will replace that ugly blanket. Have a good weekend! Happy Crafting!!!

“G”

I got another letter done. After a discussion with Julie I decided to just do the first letter of each kids’ name. If they want their entire name after Christmas we can cut them out and decorate them together. I think that is a great idea!

I haven’t decided if I’ll darken the edges yet. Don’t you just love the robots? Scrapbooking paper has taken all the work out of this project. I kinda want to cover everything with scrapbooking paper now!

On another note – I’ve decided to scrap the blue wool coat because I was looking for warm jackets in the closet and came across this one! It pays to be a pack rat!

My dear neighbor gave this to me years ago. It is wool and that is a real fox collar. The wool is really thick and still so flexible! The collar might be a bit over the top but it would look kinda dorky without it. Well, I’ll wear it for a while and see how it all feels. It musta cost a fortune back in the day – it still has the Dayton’s tag in it. Remember Dayton’s? (A store that we used to have here in Minnesota) Well, I put it on this morning and my kids didn’t laugh at me and my hubbie said it looked nice. Now, did he say that cause he meant it or cause he is afraid to let me loose in the stores to shop for a coat? I’ll have to give it a good clean today as we have “Christmas in the park” tonight. We’ll be lucky if it reaches 10 degrees. I think I’ll be glad for a thick wool coat!!!!

Garage Sale Finds

Hey, my craftiness is waning. So, here is some pictures of my favorite garage sale finds.

Huh, I thought there was more! Well, I do love the vintage stuff!! There are actually about 6 of these cups – but since they are always in use I could only find four. The casserole dishes aren’t perfect – and I’m glad about that. I’ll use them a whole lot more since they aren’t perfect. And, the enamel pan is so handy to store stuff in!

Wringer washer

Ok – I just had to do another quick post and introduce you to one of my favorite appliances . . . my Maytag wringer washer. I got it for free last summer – yes, FREE!! They were going to bring her to the dump!!! What are people thinking???!!! She is in perfect condition and does an awesome job of cleaning. Today I put the pavers under her and started her up. I washed all the rugs from the house, and the doghouse blankets. She gets everything so clean and it was a beautiful sunny, breezy morning and I was standing under the dappled shade of the oak tree. . . well, I’ve just gotta say that life is good!!!

Vintage goodies

Have you noticed the changes to my blog? Well, it will probably change more as I tweak things – kinda fun! As I posted yesterday I cleaned screens and windows. . . and also warred with the weed wacker. After using that *&##@ lovely mother’s day gift from a couple years back :) my arms are SORE! Also all that vibrating caused my hands to go numb for a little while. But the yard sure looks nice!!! ha ha

Here is a picture of a vintage suitcase I got at a garage sale for $2.00 – what a deal. It’s some kind of painted metal – tin maybe? I think it will be great for camping – when the lid closes it holds everything in place – and the whole works can sit on the picnic table. I didn’t give it a great cleaning because it was going into service right away – and it’s for camping so the sitcker gunk is still there. Oh-well. See, I’m not compulsive!!

Vintage Kitchen Utensils

There is so much going on around here my head is going to start smoldering. This blog post is a much-needed break. I have a growing collection of vintage kitchen utensils. DSC05437

(Don’t let the gorgeous Amy Butler fabric distract you too much) Here are some of them. The big wide spatula is to help lift a roast out of a pan. It’s best to have two. (I only have one right now.) Then there is a potato masher, a wisk, and a pizza dough roller. Isn’t that neat!! We make our own pizza sometimes and that roller is a prize! Well, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! We will be camping – brrrrr!

I couldn’t decide on which image to share so you get to look at both – God Bless!
